The Era of the State Chapter

For decades, the plastic surgery fraternity in Maharashtra operated under the banner of the ‘Maharashtra State Chapter of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (MAPSI).’ This chapter laid the foundation for academic exchange and surgical brotherhood in the region.

The Resolution for Independence

During the General Body Meeting of APSI held at APSICON 2010 in Goa, a historic resolution was passed. The national body gave approval for state chapters to dissociate and evolve into independent legal entities to better serve local needs.

The Lavasa Resolution

The defining moment. At the General Body Meeting held at the Lavasa International Convention Centre, Pune, the members unanimously resolved to form a new, independent body.
‘Maharashtra Chapter will be an individual body… and will not use Association of Plastic Surgeons of India’s name or PAN Card for any future financial transactions.’Dr. Shrirang Pandit (Founding President).

Legal Constitution

The association was formally registered under the Society Registration Act (MAHA 1836/2013/PUNE) and subsequently as a Public Charitable Trust (F 42630 PUNE), cementing its status as the official representative body for the state.
